We are in an important night where a small step for the world but a big step for Asmalımescit is taken. Blind Istanbul is opening its doors tonight with the claim that “Asmalımescit is back to its old happy days”. On the site of ancient Babylon, on its legacy…
I’ve passed by Babylon’s red door many times, but never had a chance to get inside. Later on, I was going to be a loyal guest of Babylon in Bomonti, Sarıyer and Çeşme, but for some reason we never crossed paths in Beyoğlu.
In the last days of the pandemic, while the opening of Blind Istanbul was held with Sonic Boom, it was my duty to take the photos of this night. This first concert in Blind Istanbul, which I hope will host legendary concerts and musicians like Babylon, is perhaps the turning point of the rebirth of Taksim, Istiklal Street and Asmalımescit…
Elif Çağlar Muslu, Çağrı Sertel, Alp Ersönmez and Volkan Öktem will be on the stage tonight in the venue where unique performances will take place in the coming days. The high energy of the band, which I photographed at Bozcaada Jazz Festival before, seems to support all of Blind’s claims.
The new adventure begins!
